A Yellow Pikmin dreams of helicopter flight, with friends helping
Nintendo's wordless animated short has viewers noticing tiny gestures and imagining Pikmin cartoons before feature films.
Why this story? The video drew 531 comments in its first day, 5.2 times a normal first day on this channel (103).
Hello! Pikmin – #02 Dream – Nintendo
Can a flower stem double as a helicopter rotor? A Yellow Pikmin gives it a determined try in Nintendo of America's "Hello! Pikmin – #02 Dream – Nintendo," after watching pink Winged Pikmin sail overhead.
The little creature spins its flower, jumps and falls flat. Then a Red Pikmin and a Blue Pikmin arrive, turning a solo experiment into a precarious team effort. There is no spoken dialogue, just squeaks, chirps and the physical comedy of a creature trying to do something it wasn't built for.
That attempt has given viewers plenty to discuss. The short drew about five times Nintendo's usual first-day comments for this format, despite an ordinary start for views. Viewers single out Red and Blue's encouraging claps, the Yellow Pikmin's effort to keep its twisting head under control, and a teamwork maneuver that reminds some of Mario & Luigi.
Another thread looks beyond this little adventure: viewers imagine Pikmin shorts playing before Nintendo's theatrical films, in the tradition of cartoons preceding a feature. That's a wish from the audience, not an announcement.
"Dream" follows the series opener, "Hello! Pikmin – #01 Frog – Nintendo." Both put the plantlike creatures themselves at the center, with Nintendo Pictures credited on the title card and no human characters needed to carry the joke.

Considering Yellow Pikmin are known for their extra height when thrown, this scenario is actually believable.
@thecrownfighter7189See it on YouTube0:31 I love the animation of it straining and catching its own head from unwinding for that last bit of torque.
