Byf sorts Destiny's returning stories from its distant possibilities

Past campaigns and raids are one thing; getting Destiny's whole world back is another. In "Destiny's great unvaulting news! Destiny 1 & Destiny 3 News? Bungie's New Leadership.", Byf makes those distinctions the centre of his return to Bungie's plans.

The video separates promised returning content, including campaigns, raids, strikes and the Menagerie, from stretch goals such as free-roam destinations and seasonal story missions. Future projects get a similarly careful treatment: possible remasters and another Destiny game remain possibilities in his commentary, not confirmed releases.

That distinction matters to the audience beneath the video. Viewers discuss how much character development disappears without seasonal stories, naming Saint, Crow, Osiris and Mithrax. Others want the destinations themselves: Titan, Io and the Tangled Shore as places to wander, rather than simply another source of loot. For a channel built around explaining this universe, the difference between preserving a story and preserving somewhere to explore is particularly fitting.

The upload has reached roughly 89,000 views and is comfortably the channel's busiest video right now. His speculative Winnower essay and October's Warframe story video are also drawing views, though at a much gentler pace.

Across the week, My name is Byf added about 357,000 views while its subscriber count held steady. Daily viewing is currently above its usual level. Nearby gaming commentary channels had larger weekly totals, with YongYea enjoying particularly brisk daily viewing.

Byf closes the new video by asking Destiny and Marathon players to repair their relationship. He also commits to continuing Marathon coverage, giving that appeal a concrete place in his own upload plans.

What viewers say

  • Seasonal stories coming back would be amazing. Without them characters like rasputin, saint, crow, Osiris, and mithrax have almost no arcs

  • Yeah I pray we get destinations back. Those are where I play most of the time. Just running around different places for fun. I want to explore Titan, IO, and the tangled shore again... at their fullest.

  • My only hope if they don’t add seasonal content back they need to have a massive cutscene you get after you finish a campaign that gives you all the main story beats of the season so people aren’t left behind. Or hey just say “go check out Byf! He will tell you everything!”

  • I don’t know that I would ever use the word “guaranteed”… but I’m thrilled anyway with “definitely planned”!
  • I understand seasonal missions are almost guaranteed not to come back, but it would be absolutely amazing
  • I’m really NOT worried about seasonal content coming back. I REALLY WANT the DESTINATIONS we lost.
IO, Titan, The Leviathan, Mercury, Mars, etc.
Destiny’s patrol zones are what make Destiny FEEL like Destiny. It’s so important.
