'First To Mine A Diamond, Keeps It!' closes in on MrBeast Gaming's rebuilt 13-year-old world
Subscribers are still arriving at close to last week's pace, even though the channel's daily views are running well below their usual level.
MrBeast GamingStory of Why this story? The channel is adding 99,948 subscribers a day, 8.3 times a normal day (12,072).
The pace has held. Five days after the diamond challenge went up, MrBeast Gaming is still adding close to 100,000 subscribers a day, and Jimmy Donaldson's gaming channel now stands at 60.4 million.
The odd part is the views. The channel is drawing only about a third of its usual daily views, yet new subscribers keep arriving far faster than normal. Perhaps people who found the channel through one challenge are signing up for the next one. The about text promises a new MrBeast or MrBeast Gaming video every Saturday at noon Eastern.
The newest upload, "First To Mine A Diamond, Keeps It!", has already caught up with almost all of "I Found My 13 Year Old Minecraft World", which came out less than a week earlier. That one carries the better backstory. According to its description, the laptop that recorded the first episodes was destroyed, so the team took the original seed and rebuilt the world block by block until it matched the one from 13 years ago.
Two summer videos are still the biggest of the recent run. One is "I Survived 100 Days on One Block", made with Minecraft creator Cookie by a host who says in the description that he is terrified of heights. The other is "Whatever You Hide As, You Keep!", a hide-and-seek round in Meccha Chameleon where, the description jokes, the prize could be a car.
The pull is not shared across the Minecraft world. Aphmau, Maizen and PrestonPlayz are all running below their usual daily views, and Cash is the one channel nearby having a stronger stretch than normal. For MrBeast Gaming, two Minecraft uploads only days apart are still doing the work.
