Bloomberg Television's Onur Ant offers a caution about Iran diplomacy: movement does not yet mean a breakthrough. Reporting from Dubai on "Horizons Middle East & Africa," he describes an accelerated proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz while Gulf governments press to avert renewed strikes.

Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, has discussed a two-day reopening plan. But Ant tells anchor Abeer Abu Omar: "Yes, there's definitely some movement there, but I'd be very cautious about calling it a breakthrough just yet."

The short segment, titled "Gulf States Push for US-Iran Diplomatic Off-Ramp," reached about 142,000 views in 22 hours, far beyond the channel's usual first-day audience for Shorts. Bloomberg's longer broadcast covering the Hormuz talks also attracted an unusually large early audience.

The report sets the diplomatic opening against preparations for escalation. Ant reports that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has directed commanders to widen potential retaliation targets if the US and Israel attack. Bloomberg's description says President Donald Trump has ruled out fresh strikes before Tuesday's US midterm elections, not beyond them.

For Gulf governments, Ant describes a particular frustration: potentially bearing the costs of decisions they do not control. "Gulf states feel like they are being dragged into a war that they have been trying for months to avert through diplomatic talks," he says.
