Mariano opens beside the ocean in San Diego, a calm introduction to a poker session with very little restraint. "In the past, Fridays at Hustler have been absolute madness, and this video is going to be no exception," he says.

"Playing for $240,000!" drew more than 52,000 views in its first 13 hours, already well beyond his usual first-day audience. This is a cash-game return after the tournament outing featured in his earlier vlog, with Mariano explaining both the bets he makes and the ones he decides not to call.

Jesse supplies much of the pressure. He pushes Mariano off king-jack on an ace-high board, then keeps turning up in hands that demand expensive decisions. Their biggest encounter begins with Mariano holding eight-seven suited. Two pair arrives on the turn, and a large river bet gets called, giving Mariano the pot promised by the title.

Not every ambitious play works. An attempted bluff against Dumbledore runs into a full house, prompting Mariano's verdict: "I should have known better than to play against a wizard."

Away from the hand analysis, viewers also single out the opening coastal footage. One asks for more of Mariano's filmmaking alongside the poker, a reminder that the Ocean Beach introduction has an audience of its own.

What viewers say

Hi Mariano, I know everyone talks mainly about your poker game (granted, it’s a poker channel) but I wanted to say I really like your filming portions of the video and I would love to see you post more films and shoots!

I watched this one live and it was a lot of fun. A critical mass of action players prepared to play big pots. It's no surprise that games like that are hard to stage every week I guess. But I hope we see some more!
