John has been given a ready-made squad, but he would rather build his own. Partway into MandJTV Plays' Roco Kingdom outing, PM7 deposits the supplied creatures and heads out to catch wild ones. His commitment has limits: "No hand-outs, except for all the other stuff they gave me that I'm going to use."

"This Game Isn't Pokémon...Is It Better?" was the channel's only new upload this week, reaching roughly 240,000 views. It is a sponsored gameplay video made in partnership with Roco Kingdom, with Mikey and John exploring an early build of the creature-catching game together. Mikey's shorthand is "Think Pokémon plus Genshin."

The pair discover that their characters can hold hands, experiment with mounts and take on turn-based battles. Mikey catches a Lutty by the seashore; later, a daunting enemy level persuades him to back away from an ancient gate. A cooperative boss encounter gives them something to tackle together instead.

Viewers have found a smaller creature debate of their own: whether a frog-like companion has become a lizard or a salamander. Others point out the comedy of the pair reading dialogue aloud just before the voice acting catches up.

The new adventure is the channel's busiest video right now, followed by "My First Time Playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game," in which Purplecliffe teaches Mikey how to play. The channel added just over a million views across the week, while subscribers stayed unchanged. Its daily viewing is now more than twice its usual level. For MandJTV Plays, the recent change of scenery has come with two different kinds of beginner experience: learning the card game he already knows the creatures from, and learning a creature-catching world where even the duck allocation gives John something to complain about.
