John Hicks revisits his old BMX commute after midnight
A turn onto San Pedro Street brings back memories of riding through Skid Row on the way to work.

LA at 1AM is Wild.. 😳
John Hicks's late-night rides have a daytime history. In "LA at 1AM is Wild.. 😳", he turns south onto San Pedro Street and recalls passing through Skid Row every day on his BMX commute to a downtown job.
He isn't sure he would take that same job today. Then the reflection becomes a joke about his present occupation: take too many weeks off making videos, and he might need to get employed again. Amid the street observations, it's a small glimpse of the working routine that preceded these rides.
That upload drew roughly 64,000 views, the largest audience among his three new videos. "Riding LA at 1AM was a bad idea.. 😳" and "LA after midnight is a scary place.. 😳" kept the week's outings firmly in the after-dark hours. In the comments, one viewer asks for the BMX videos back; another describes the rides as their window onto a part of the city they are unlikely to visit.
The strongest momentum belongs to an earlier Surron Light Bee 2 outing, "RIDING DEEP IN LA AT 1AM AND I'LL NEVER GO BACK AFTER THIS..". It is attracting substantially more daily viewing than any of the new uploads.
Across the channel, the week added about four million views, comparable to Matt's Off Road Recovery's weekly total, while Enduro KeX had a much larger week. Hicks's subscriber count stayed unchanged, and his current daily viewing is below half its usual pace. For this week's new audience, though, the distinctive detail was the old commute behind the nighttime route.
