"My name's Miles Morales though, okay? My name is not IShowSpeed." He says it to a street crowd that plainly knows exactly who is under the mask, and that gap is the running joke of his Halloween "Speed-verse" livestream, which has drawn about 3.1 million views since yesterday.

This is a costumed walk through New York with a script attached. Hired actors play Uncle Aaron, a police officer, a woman whose dog is trapped upstairs and a shoplifter. On-screen alerts announce each new mission in the style of a police scanner.

It opens on a Manhattan rooftop, with Speed sitting in character and telling his uncle he misses Brooklyn. Aaron asks about school, then warns him to go the other way if he sees anyone dressed in purple. Fans of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will catch the wink: in that film, Aaron is the purple-clad Prowler. A few minutes later the screen reports that Kingpin has sent the Prowler out.

Then the missions come quickly. Speed carries an unconscious woman out of an apartment party, goes back into a smoky building for the dog, and tackles a man running out of a convenience store before returning the stolen bag. Between rescues he moves through packed sidewalks with bodyguards, asking "Who the hell is Speed?" of anyone who uses his real name.

The last stretch turns rough and silly. An actor claiming to be Biggie Smalls gets knocked to the ground ("I run New York, buddy"), and Speed ends up in a pizza shop full of other Spider-Man cosplayers. A text from "Dad" flashes up demanding a call back, the oldest problem of being a teenage superhero.

The comments read like reviews of a fan film. Many viewers say he would make a good Spider-Man, and others point out that this Spider-Man does not seem to care about a secret identity.
