Learjet Pilot Can Be Heard Praying Moments Before Fatal Crash
Co-pilot Nathalia Filgueras continued radioing for help as the Learjet descended rapidly. Inside Edition's report pairs those distress calls with an account of pilot Jeff Gregory praying in the moments before the fatal crash near Palm Beach, Florida.
All nine people aboard died. The report, by Jim Moret, brings the crew into focus alongside the passengers, including a nanny and family friends. Filgueras's friend Michaela Schluth remembers aviation as the subject she always wanted to talk about.
NFL running back Joe Mixon also pays tribute to the pilots. He had flown with the same crew a month earlier, giving his remembrance a direct connection to their work.
The report drew about two million views in its first day, far beyond the channel's usual start for a short upload. Viewers' comments repeatedly return to the crew: Gregory's place in the coverage and Filgueras's continued communication during the emergency.
The report also distinguishes the final radio calls from the physical evidence under investigation. NTSB representative Tom Chapman says important pieces of the aircraft's tail separated before impact. Inside Edition closes by noting that the FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause.
