Paul Smith names his Aldi-inspired girl band "Middle Aisle"
Four audience members answer in chorus, giving the Liverpool comic an imaginary audition to pitch to Simon Cowell.

The Girlband | Paul Smith LIVE at Hot Water Comedy Club
Paul Smith asks a theater box whether anyone is celebrating a special occasion. The answer comes back as a harmonized "Nooooo," which is more musical material than the question usually provides.
In "The Girlband | Paul Smith LIVE at Hot Water Comedy Club," four women seated together become an impromptu vocal group, at least in Smith's imagination. The Short drew about 45,000 views in ten hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for this format.
Smith initially notices how tightly the group is packed into the box. But their synchronized replies give him something else to work with. When audience member Emily says she works at Aldi, he asks whether they all do. Another choral denial follows.
That is enough for a band name and a mock talent-show introduction. Smith imagines addressing Simon Cowell: "Hello, Simon, we are the newest girl band on the block and we are called Middle Aisle."
The supermarket detail supplies the name, but the women supply the setup twice: an ordinary crowd-work question keeps coming back with its own backing vocals.
