Abner Gelin says he stayed up all night following the election results. His Haitian Public Media broadcast gives James Talarico's Texas victory particular attention, placing the senator-elect's speech alongside a critique of wealthy political donors and their campaign spending.
"We just proved that all the money in the world is no match for the people of Texas," Talarico says in the footage. Gelin returns to that result throughout the broadcast, which also includes victory speeches from Jon Ossoff and Abdul El-Sayed and projections showing Democrats taking control of both chambers of Congress.
The response beneath the video is unusually busy: first-day comments ran at more than five times the channel's usual level, although views were ordinary for its regular uploads. Several viewers credit Gelin with encouraging them to vote. One describes driving others to the polls; others bring up immigration enforcement and what the result could mean for Haitians in the United States. Florida's governor's race also appears as a concern amid the broader Democratic gains.
Gelin closes the political circle with Trump's phone interviews. The president congratulates Democrats, later argues that Republicans would have won with him on the ballot, and says he wants to cooperate. Gelin's analysis turns from the celebrations to the changed balance of power, including checks on the executive and legislative priorities such as healthcare and tariffs.
