A rider on a billboard gives a broadcaster a recognizable face. But should that rider first get a say? GCN Racing's latest news show takes up Mads Pedersen and fellow Danish athletes' legal action against HBO Max over commercial use of their images, weighing consent and compensation against the exposure that helps cycling attract sponsors.
The distinction between covering a sport and advertising a subscription dominates the comments. Several viewers argue that permission matters regardless of whether the publicity benefits the athlete; others consider how sponsors might secure image rights in their contracts. The presenter says a verdict is due December 15.
That discussion anchors the channel's sole new upload, which has reached roughly 63,000 views and is currently its busiest individual video. There is racing here too: Matt Beers wins Gravel Burn through consistency without taking a stage, while Thibau Nys and Lucinda Brand take the Koppenbergcross victories. A leaked Giro d'Italia route and Dylan Teuns's retirement round out a particularly varied bulletin.
GCN Racing's subscriber count held steady, and daily viewing is running below its usual level. Among nearby sports channels, Fox Cricket had a much busier viewing week, while ChrisRyanGolf also recorded no subscriber gain.
For another substantial catch-up, the previous news show's examination of the men's and women's Tour de France routes remains active. Its rejection of the idea that the men's course is designed against Pogačar has now collected roughly 146,000 views.

What viewers say
I don’t see any controversy with what Pedersen et al are requesting. If you’re going to use someone’s image on a billboard to sell your product, I’d say you owe them a cut of the action.
@allrededcSee it on YouTubeI think he is looking to be compensated for use of his image. I believe he has every right to ask for compensation.
@suziwilson3129See it on YouTube5:35 I would imagine sponsors would secure rights to their image during contract negotiations. They want something out of it too.
