- 16:36Black-tinted epoxy fills the engraving before flattening, outline cutting and a shellac finish.
- 20:14Outtakes include spilled glue, a stubborn collet and the dusty consequences of cutting without vacuum suction.
A baby dragon gives Drew Fisher a reason to move from software settings to black-tinted epoxy in "How to use Vectric VCarve!" The older tutorial is Fisher's Shop's busiest video by daily views right now, during a week with no new uploads.
The project is a nursery sign for a friend's newborn: a sage-green circular backer, contrasting wooden lettering and a carved cherry dragon. Vectric sponsored the video. Drew uses VCarve Pro, but says everything he demonstrates is also available in the base version, making the build a lesson in profile cutting, lettering and engraving rather than just a finished-project reveal.
There is practical detail behind the decoration. Tabs keep the circular panel from shifting during the cut; later, epoxy fills the dragon engraving before Drew flattens and finishes it. The outtakes offer a less polished workshop lesson: glue spills onto the painted backer, and cutting without vacuum suction leaves him brushing dust from his clothes.
Fisher's Shop collected roughly 23,000 views across the week, with subscribers holding steady. Daily viewing is a little below its usual pace, making this a quieter spell than nearby DIY Montreal and Tools In Action, both currently drawing substantially more daily views than usual.
The archive offers different kinds of catching up, too. "Woodworking: Celtic Knots on the Lathe" remains among the videos gathering the most daily views, with five patterned turning projects inspired by Drew's friend Mike. October's "Shop Work: Using the Kreg Fixed-Base 3.25HP Router" adds a newer option, putting the tool through demanding workshop tasks.
