Cookbook stands and pear trivets fill DIY Montreal's gift shelf

A compilation of 25 handmade projects gives the upload-free week a practical focus, from kitchen tools to keepsake boxes.

DIY Montreal posted nothing new, but the workshop's gift-making collection had plenty to offer: a collapsible cookbook stand, a pear-shaped trivet and a lamp built from diagonally stacked wooden cubes.

"25 Woodworking Gifts I Made (And You Can Too)" arrived just before this weekly window and has reached roughly 166,000 views. It is now drawing far more daily views than the channel's other momentum-carrying uploads, including the hexagon-box tutorial that featured here in October.

The compilation is more than a parade of finished presents. The host shows how the cookbook stand's interlocking base comes together in walnut and maple, then turns spaced cherry slats into the pear trivet. She is candid about the less polished parts of the process, too: "I'll be honest and say I have very little experience cutting curves on a bandsaw, and I'm not great at it." Later, a small angle in a connector block gives wooden kitchen tongs their spring-open shape.

Across the channel, daily viewing is running at nearly twice its usual pace, while the week brought roughly 1,000 additional subscribers. Among nearby DIY channels, Tools In Action is also seeing elevated daily viewing; Fisher's Shop had a smaller viewing week and little change in its daily pace.

There is room for workshop organization alongside the presents. The October French-cleat build remains among DIY Montreal's busiest older uploads, fitting a mobile tool-storage wall onto a compact base. The gift compilation heads in the other direction: out of the shop and into kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms, with a bathtub tray, blanket ladder and walnut keepsake box.
