Jeffery Simmons says ‘I’m so excited’ after winning debut with Bears | NFL on ESPN

Jeffery Simmons's first day in the Bears' building stretched late into the night. There was a new playbook to learn, and he stayed until nearly ten trying to get it down.

By the end of Chicago's Monday Night Football win over Seattle, he had something else to take in: his first victory wearing a Bears jersey. Speaking to Laura Rutledge on the field, Simmons said, "Man, I'm so excited to be a Chicago Bear, man."

The sideline interview drew about 47,000 views in its first day, roughly seventeen times NFL on ESPN's usual start for Shorts. A separate clip about Bears fans welcoming Simmons also drew an unusually large audience, while ESPN's studio shows debated Chicago's prospects.

But Simmons's interview offers something more personal than another contender discussion. Traded from Tennessee on Thursday, he describes learning his new defense and playing alongside Montez Sweat, his former Mississippi State teammate. He praises Sweat's speed and explains his own animated sideline presence: "That's just who I am: the energy, the passion, showing love to my teammates."

When Rutledge asks about leaving Tennessee and joining Chicago, Simmons makes room for gratitude alongside the excitement. "Tennessee have been nothing but good to me," he says. Viewers pick up on that acknowledgment, with comments discussing his respect for his former team and welcoming him to the Bears. One message offers congratulations from Tennessee, too.
