The questions keep coming. Abdul El-Sayed disavows an outside PAC advertisement, then asks reporters to change the subject to what Michigan voters face in their daily lives.
"Please ask me questions that are relevant to the voters of the state of Michigan," he says during the post-rally briefing in Pontiac, carried by DRM News.
The Democratic Senate nominee names his priorities plainly: getting money out of politics, putting money in people's pockets and passing Medicare for All. But reporters return throughout the briefing to former primary opponent Haley Stevens, party unity and whether campaign disagreements could hurt the Democratic ticket.
Stevens lost the nomination to El-Sayed, and his answer is that the primary is over. Asked again near the end about her effect on the ticket, he returns to high costs and democracy rather than extending the dispute.
There is also a sharper response to a question about Mike Rogers' remarks suggesting he go back to Dubai. El-Sayed points to his birthplace, Rochester Hills, Michigan, before criticizing Rogers' policies and alignment with Donald Trump.
The upload drew roughly 47,000 views in seven hours, a much faster start than DRM News' usual regular video. It is the question-and-answer session, rather than the rally speech, that viewers get here: casual opening conversation about apple picking and shawarma gives way to repeated attempts by El-Sayed to keep the briefing on his economic message.
