Dominic Noble revisits The Crow, an adaptation he says shouldn't work

The Crow ~ Lost in Adaptation
A successful adaptation can be a puzzle, too. Dominic Noble's new review starts from the premise that James O'Barr's The Crow shouldn't have made such a good film, then sets out to explain why it did anyway.
The upload arrives as Noble's channel draws roughly 150,000 views in a day, more than six times its usual pace. That is a channel-wide rise, not a view count for The Crow alone.
Posted on October 30, "The Crow ~ Lost in Adaptation" returns to the page-to-screen comparisons at the heart of Noble's series. Alex Proyas directed the 1994 film, with Brandon Lee playing Eric Draven, the musician who returns from the dead. It gives Noble a different question from simply cataloging what a movie left out: how an adaptation succeeds on its own terms.
Horror already has a substantial place in his catalog. His Lost in Adaptation reviews of IT and Interview with the Vampire are among his most-watched regular uploads. The Crow adds another dark, supernatural work to that bookshelf.
