Earning Trust and Respect
Daphne barks, lunges and pushes against Cesar Millan's legs. Madison circles nearby. But the third dog, Mateo, stays out of it, providing a quiet contrast to a very noisy backyard encounter.
The official Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan channel's Short, "Earning Trust and Respect," revisits a case from the show's fourth season. It has drawn roughly 174,000 views in 13 hours, with its estimated first-day audience running more than eleven times the channel's usual start for Shorts.
Millan explains that he sees different intentions behind the commotion: Madison is joining in, while Daphne is the dog he believes intends to bite. He keeps his attention on her, describing her pushing as an attempt to herd him. Then he reverses the movement, stepping toward her and driving her backward across the lawn.
When Daphne stops barking and backs away, Millan lowers his posture. "Show her what I want is just trust and respect," he explains.
The comments have already passed six times the channel's usual full-day total for Shorts. Viewers are turning the other dogs into comic bystanders, imagining one recognizing Millan from television and deciding not to get involved. Mateo's refusal to join the commotion is also a running joke, and it echoes Millan's own observation: "Mateo never participated in that craziness."
