No new uploads from Dave Lee this week, and his channel kept turning anyway, on the strength of a controller that makes noise it should not be able to make.
"The Steam Controller has an easter egg" is more than four months old and still the busiest thing he has. His description explains the joke: the controller has no speakers, so Valve tuned the haptic motors to vibrate at the right frequencies for sound effects. It is the kind of odd engineering detail his channel, billed as "quality videos about useful tech," is built to notice.
The newer work is not far behind. The review of the 2026 Mac Mini, with M5 Pro and M5 Ultra chips, passed a million views in eight days, and his iPhone Duo first impressions, which also cover the iPhone 18 Pro and AirPods 5, are past two million.
Among similar tech channels he sits fifth of nine by subscribers. CarterPCs is having an outsized week, running well above its usual pace, while Techquickie is a little quieter than normal.
