CNET's Starship Flight 14 supercut starts at nearly eighty times usual
A fifteen-minute recap of the first Starship flight to reach orbit took over from yesterday's Siri explainer as the channel's busiest video.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,047,220 views a day, 78 times a normal first day on this channel (13,457).
SpaceX Starship Flight 14: Everything that Happened in 15 Minutes
CNET's condensed cut of SpaceX's latest Starship test passed half a million views barely a day after it went up. That is a first-day pace close to eighty times what a new CNET video usually manages. By itself, the video is drawing more daily views than the whole channel normally collects. On the day before, a Siri class-action explainer was doing most of the channel's work.
The flight had plenty to pack in. According to the description, Starship reached orbit for the first time on this mission and released a batch of V3 Starlink satellites. The chapters walk through the key stages: liftoff and max Q, hot staging, the booster's soft splashdown, the go-for-orbit poll, the orbital insertion burn and, finally, the ship's own landing. CNET's companion article adds that an engine issue came up along the way.
Starship, stacked on its Super Heavy booster, is the most powerful rocket ever flown, and SpaceX has tested it in public one flight at a time. The supercut is a CNET staple, best known from its Apple event recaps that shrink hours of keynote into a few minutes. This one is largely a solo job. Stephen Beacham is credited as producer, editor and thumbnail designer.

For a channel that posts news every day, a first day like this is well outside the usual range.
