Tesla's flying Roadster dominates CNET's gadget-filled release slate

The event replay is approaching eight million views while CNET also tackles Apple's foldable-phone preorder scramble.

Why this story? The whole channel is running at 6,084,952 views a day, 13 times a normal day (465,196).

Apple's first foldable phone has CNET scrambling for a preorder, but Tesla's airborne sports car is drawing the much larger audience. The Roadster reveal supercut has reached nearly eight million views, far beyond the channel's other recent uploads.

As we reported here, CNET condensed the Waco unveiling into a short event replay. That video now sits alongside a channel-wide surge: CNET is drawing about six million views a day, more than thirteen times its usual pace. The Roadster upload is the clear standout on its recent release slate, though its lifetime views and the channel's daily total cover different periods.

The edit moves from flight demonstrations to a rocket-thruster test and a production announcement. It's an event highlights package, rather than an independent road test.

Elsewhere on CNET, the questions are more domestic. Bridget Carey asks how Apple's HomeView will fit into family life, including multiple users, FaceTime and wall mounting. The iPhone Duo coverage has a more immediate concern: CNET says Apple's preorder shipping dates have slipped into January, while availability through mobile carriers varies.
