Tesla's rocket tests punctuate PCMag's practical gadget week
The Roadster event supercut has passed half a million views amid a sharp jump in viewing across the channel.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 433,301 views a day, 12 times a normal day (36,370).
PCMag's daily viewing has climbed to roughly 430,000 views, nearly twelve times its usual pace. Alongside its familiar questions about which tablet to buy and why a laptop feels frustrating, the channel has something rather less routine: a Tesla leaving the ground.
Its event edit, "Tesla Rolls Out a Flying Roadster: See All the Highlights," packages the Waco unveiling into demonstrations of flight, upside-down positioning and rocket thrust. It is a supercut of Tesla's presentation, not a PCMag road test.
The contrast with the rest of the channel's recent output is striking. Iyaz Akhtar's Googlebook review describes app-casting problems, awkward empty screen space and file-transfer glitches after making the machine his main computer. Kim Gedeon's Samsung tablet comparison weighs expandable storage, an included stylus and battery life against the iPad Pro's performance advantage.
Andrew Gebhart, meanwhile, explores Apple's HomeView through smart-home controls and cooking assistance. Those are purchases to think through at a desk or kitchen counter; the Roadster edit offers a rocket-thruster test instead.
