Dateline NBC pairs full-episode streams with a reporter's debrief

Andrea Canning and Blayne Alexander revisit "The Orchard," while three 24/7 broadcasts anchor the week's viewing.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Dateline NBC posted six uploads, giving viewers both full episodes to settle into and a conversation about the reporting behind one investigation. Three broadcasts titled "LIVE: Dateline 24/7" drew the largest audiences among the new arrivals. Monday's stream reached roughly 126,000 views, while Thursday's now has the strongest daily momentum.

Away from the streams, "Talking Dateline: "The Orchard" with Andrea Canning and Blayne Alexander | Dateline" returns to the disappearance of Georgia teacher Tara Grinstead in 2005. Canning reflects on more than a decade of covering the case. An extra interview clip with GBI Special Agent Gary Rothwell examines crucial information that fell through the cracks, and producers Brad Davis and Marissa Maier answer viewers' questions. It is a different kind of access from watching the finished episode: the reporting itself becomes the subject.

The week's Spanish-language upload, "La muerte de Gianni Versace | Dateline en español," features Antonio D'Amico discussing the fashion designer's murder. A trailer for "Deadly Intersection" rounds out the new posts, with Lester Holt reporting.

The channel added about 2,000 subscribers over the week, although daily viewing is currently less than half its usual pace. That slower daily pace is also evident at nearby true-crime channels Crime Zone and Well, I Never; Scarcity Studios, by contrast, is running well above its norm. For Dateline NBC, all three videos carrying the most daily momentum are the full-episode streams, rather than the trailers or the reporter conversation.
