Dateline 24/7 goes live, and Jeremy Renner talks to Lester Holt

The newsmagazine's channel added a round-the-clock stream of full episodes, while a Cincinnati cold case filled the rest of its week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Most of the true crime and courts channels around Dateline NBC are running below their usual pace right now, some well below it, from Law&Crime BodyCam to Legal Mindset. Dateline is the exception that holds its line: its daily views sit right where they normally do, and about 2,000 new subscribers arrived over the week. The Decoder is the one having the big week in this group.

The newest addition is the most ambitious. "LIVE: Dateline 24/7" does what the name says: full episodes, free, running around the clock. Within hours of starting, it was already the channel's fastest-moving video.

Close behind is a ten-day-old clip from "Before & After with Lester Holt," in which Jeremy Renner talks about the snowplow accident that nearly killed him. He says it was one of the best things that ever happened to him. The title gives the starkest line: "I should be dead".

The rest of the week belonged to "Unmasking the Monster," Blayne Alexander's hour on Dana Beatty, who was sexually assaulted in her Cincinnati home in 1989 by a masked man. Decades later, her daughter Andra pushed to reopen the case, and retested evidence and forensic genetic genealogy showed the attacker was someone Dana knew. In a Talking Dateline episode, Andrea Canning and Alexander discuss what such crimes do to families and the laws on statutes of limitations. Under the trailer, several viewers mostly ask where to watch the full episode.

There was a Spanish-language case too: "La mansión de Ocean Bulevar" (The Ocean Boulevard Mansion), about two deaths in the same week in a wealthy California city.
