ClawBoss's "Stop buying Kias" inspection finds a clogged valve
An oil-burning Forte brings an unusually large audience to his workshop, with viewers debating maintenance and sharing their own ownership experiences.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 138,349 views a day, 5.7 times a normal first day on this channel (24,113).
STOP BUYING KIA CARS
Black soot on a fingertip is only the beginning of this inspection. ClawBoss wipes the inside of a customer's Kia Forte tailpipe, then works his way toward a camera view inside the engine and a small valve that isn't doing its job.
The Short, titled "STOP BUYING KIA CARS", drew roughly 140,000 views in its first day, nearly six times his usual Shorts start. The comment section was almost four times as busy as usual, too. His earlier criticism of Kia and Hyundai focused on an awkwardly placed drain plug; this visit follows a customer's complaints about oil consumption and falling fuel mileage.
The spark plugs look relatively intact when he removes them. The borescope tells a less reassuring story: he points out heavy carbon deposits and burnt oil on the pistons. Then he removes the PCV valve, finds it clogged and compares it with a new replacement that rattles when shaken.
His opening warning is sweeping, but viewers' discussion is more specific. Owners exchange mileage stories, debate how much maintenance matters and point to their own PCV replacements. One imagines the comic twist of ClawBoss getting hired by a Kia dealership.
Replacing the valve isn't presented as the end of the diagnosis. After installing the new part, ClawBoss advises the customer to take the Forte to a Kia dealership for further assessment of its oil consumption.
