Manhunt underway for escaped murderer in Tennessee
Home security footage could help. Authorities are asking residents to check their cameras as they search for Jacob Allen Morley, a convicted murderer who escaped from Northwest Correctional Complex in Tennessee.
In Tom Hanson's CBS Evening News report, the Tennessee Department of Correction says Morley breached a perimeter fence while wearing his prison uniform late Sunday night. He was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder. The report also shows surveillance footage involving a white Ford F-350 truck.
The short report has passed a quarter-million views, an unusually large audience for the channel's Shorts. Its comment section is also much busier than usual, with viewers repeatedly questioning why someone serving a life sentence for murder was held in a medium-security prison.
Hanson places the manhunt alongside another Tennessee escape: Gregory Redden was recaptured after leaving custody at a Nashville hospital. In Morley's case, the report says authorities are offering a reward for information leading to his arrest and advising residents in Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky and Illinois to remain alert.
