CBC puts Kim's Convenience and Schitt's Creek on a comedy loop

A round-the-clock stream of Canadian sitcoms joins the entertainment channel's lineup as its total views jump.

CBC added about 6.6 million views in a day, while its latest uploads offered a familiar invitation: settle in with the Kims, the Roses or the teachers of Mr. D.

The broadcaster has posted a round-the-clock comedy livestream featuring full episodes of Kim's Convenience, Schitt's Creek, Workin' Moms, Son of a Critch and more, alongside Canadian sketch comedy and stand-up specials. The stream itself has only a few thousand views, so it does not explain the channel-wide jump.

Kim's Convenience already has a substantial presence here in shorter form. CBC's most-watched Short is "Appa meets a drag queen," featuring the convenience-store patriarch played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. The livestream offers a different way into that world: whole episodes rather than a single exchange across the counter.

Elsewhere in the lineup, George Stroumboulopoulos takes the longer view. The trailer for Stories That Made Us With George Stroumboulopoulos introduces a cross-Canada documentary journey through the films and television shows that helped shape Canadian identity, with the people behind those screen memories contributing their stories.
