Mads Mikkelsen gets wired up for Call of Duty's Archer

A behind-the-scenes Short joins a Season 1 trailer announcing new maps, modes and a DMZ Exclusion Zone for November 6.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Facial tracking dots go on first. Then comes the motion-capture suit, a harness and a head-mounted camera rig: Call of Duty's latest look at Mads Mikkelsen shows the studio work behind the Archer, rather than another burst of campaign action.

The brief promotional film has drawn roughly 548,000 views, making it the most watched of the official channel's twelve uploads this week. There is no spoken dialogue, just music accompanying crew adjustments and Mikkelsen walking across the capture floor. For an actor familiar as Hannibal Lecter and Casino Royale's Le Chiffre, it is a different kind of villain preparation.

Those earlier roles are turning up in the comments, too. Viewers draw comparisons with Hannibal, recall Le Chiffre and ask whether the Archer might become a playable operator. That last request is a wish, not an announcement.

The week's other substantial release, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 | Season 1 Launch Trailer," promotes the free November 6 content update, including new Multiplayer maps and modes and the XO1 DMZ Exclusion Zone. Mikkelsen's clip currently carries the most daily momentum, followed by that trailer, with a fresh DMZ promotional upload also gathering views.

The channel added about 20,000 subscribers over seven days, although its current daily viewing pace is well below usual. Among fellow game channels, Nintendo of America is running above its normal daily pace, while Fortnite is close to its own routine. Call of Duty's week also made room for a Steelbook preview and a Valor Pack promotional video created with Marine veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter.
