Starship reaches orbit, and Bloomberg News films it three times

Launch, orbit and an early Pacific splashdown near Hawaii each got a video of its own, all posted on Monday.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Barely a day old, three Starship videos are the liveliest things on Bloomberg News right now. The channel split Monday's flight into chapters: the 7:49 a.m. liftoff from Starbase in South Texas, the first time the rocket reached orbit and set loose 26 upgraded Starlink satellites, and then the splashdown north of Hawaii about three hours into a flight meant to last nearly ten, cut short by an engine failure. The launch clip has the biggest total so far. The orbit video, the one that tells both halves of the story in its title, is moving fastest.

Fifteen uploads went up in all. Before the rocket, the week belonged to Mark Gurman, Bloomberg's Apple and gadget reporter, explaining Meta's $1,299 lightweight VR headset and its first camera-free smart glasses. That video is still the week's largest by total views. A Singapore-versus-Hong Kong question for expats, weighing pay and tax breaks for fund managers, found a smaller audience, and Trump's remarks on the men arrested over the RAF Fairford plot closed out Monday.

Subscribers held level. Among business channels of similar size, Bloomberg News sits sixth of nine, while its sister channel Bloomberg Television and Fox Business keep far busier daily paces. Minority Mindset is running a touch above its usual clip, and CNBC Television a little below.
