Ten levels of nachos keep Binging with Babish warm on a week off
The twelve-day-old ladder of chips and cheese has passed a million views, with a King of the Hill menu and a plate of celebrity pastas behind it.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
10 Levels of Nachos | With Babish
"10 Levels of Nachos | With Babish" is the climb its title promises: ten rungs of chips, cheese and toppings on Andrew Rea's channel, each with its own chapter. The last rung starts past the 24-minute mark and runs to the end, so the top level clearly gets the most attention. Twelve days after it went up, it has passed a million views and is still the busiest video on the channel by a wide margin.
Nothing new arrived this week, so the older work carried the channel. The two videos behind the nachos come from Rea's two familiar modes. "Recreating Bobby Hill's Restaurant Menu" is classic Binging with Babish, the series built on cooking food from film and television, this time Bobby's dishes from King of the Hill, the Mike Judge cartoon in which Hank's son turns out to have a real talent in the kitchen. It is two and a half months old and still drawing a steady crowd.
The other is "I Tried Celebrities' Favorite Pastas," a tour that runs from Taylor Swift's spaghetti and meatballs and Lionel Messi's agnolotti to Stanley Tucci's spaghetti alla Nerano, the zucchini dish Tucci made famous in his Italian travel series.
Among cooking channels of a similar size, Max the Meat Guy and mrnigelng are the ones running above their usual pace. Mark Wiens and Bobby Parrish are a little quieter. Babish sits in the middle of that group at around 10.5 million subscribers, and three very different plates of food are doing his work for him.
