Jaguar gets the full-episode treatment on BBC Studios

A Top Gear archive outing reunites Clarkson, Hammond and May with the R Coupe concept and XJR.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The archive isn't serving up just a test drive this time. BBC Studios has posted a complete Jaguar-themed Top Gear episode, giving the cars their studio conversation, celebrity lap and early-2000s context back.

"Jaguar's Glory Days | Full Episode | Top Gear Classic | BBC Studios" was the most-watched of the channel's three new uploads, reaching roughly 207,000 views. First broadcast in June 2003, the episode puts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in Jaguars, including the R Coupe concept and then-new XJR. Boris Johnson appears as the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.

The comments have two distinct preoccupations: requests for more complete episodes, and speculation about the timing of a Jaguar retrospective. Some viewers also pick out the period fuel prices, a small background detail that makes an archive program feel its age as effectively as the cars do.

Away from the garage, David Attenborough narrates a new wildlife collection featuring predator-dodging crabs and a tiny nocturnal hunter. Neil Oliver's Stonehenge exploration arrived later in the week and is already among the channel's busiest uploads by daily views.

Brian Cox, though, supplies the strongest momentum right now. "The Next Space Frontier With Brian Cox | BBC Earth Science | BBC Studios," posted just before this week's window, ranges from retrograde motion to an alien-looking world beneath the waves. An earlier Attenborough wildlife collection is also drawing more daily views than the new releases.

The subscriber count stayed unchanged, while daily viewing ran about a quarter above its usual level. That makes this a busier viewing spell for a channel whose weekly itinerary stretches comfortably from Jaguar's design ambitions to prehistoric monuments and the next space frontier.
