حكومة قومية إسرائيلية وحرب على إيران!.. تفاصيل أول خطاب لنتنياهو بعد ظهور النتائج الأولية للانتخابات
Benjamin Netanyahu presented a right-wing national unity government as a means of confronting Iran in his first address after preliminary Israeli election results, according to Qatar-based Al Araby Television.
Reporting from Haifa, correspondent Ahmad Darawsheh says the prime minister spoke of a historic opportunity to eliminate what he called the Iranian threat with help from US President Donald Trump. Darawsheh interprets the closing remarks as hints at war against Iran in cooperation with Washington. The report does not describe an announced military operation or a confirmed US commitment.
Netanyahu also declared Likud Israel's largest party and claimed majority support among Jewish voters, the correspondent reports. But amid celebrations by his supporters, he avoided announcing an outright victory and said the final results should be awaited.
The provisional projections displayed during the report underline that distinction: Netanyahu's bloc has 52 seats, Gadi Eisenkot's bloc 49 and Arab parties 19. Neither main bloc has a parliamentary majority on its own.
Darawsheh says Netanyahu attacked his opponents and rejected any government dependent on Arab parties' votes. His appeal therefore combined a call for right-wing unity with a restriction on which parliamentary partners he would accept, while leaving the final electoral outcome unresolved.
