Government forces have advanced around Taiz's western approaches as fighting intensifies across several fronts, correspondent Moaz Mansour reports for Qatar-based Al Araby Television. His account places a vital supply road at the center of the military struggle, while hospitals face mounting pressure and shortages of medicine.
Taiz lies in Yemen's southwestern highlands. The report describes fierce clashes around Mount Han and al-Dhabab, west of the city, with Mansour saying government troops have taken the al-Maidan position and the end of the Black Mountain ridge, and are moving toward al-Saleh gardens.
The significance is not simply territorial. Mansour explains that the al-Hangar checkpoint controls the city's western entrance and access to the road connecting Taiz with Aden, the southern port city. That route matters for supplies of goods into Taiz. He says government forces describe their operation as a shift from defense to attack.
The fighting extends beyond those western approaches. Mansour reports renewed clashes on northern and central fronts, coalition airstrikes against Houthi positions, and Houthi reinforcements arriving in the southern countryside around al-Shamayatayn. He also describes continuing combat in al-Shaqab to the southeast and along the western coast near Bab al-Mandab, the strait linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
An on-screen bulletin separately reports deaths and injuries from a Saudi strike on a fuel station in Sabir al-Mawadim district. It gives no casualty total in this segment.
The video's title, "معارك محتدمة في محاور تعز والقوات الحكومية تضيق الخناق على الحوثيين", means "Fierce fighting on Taiz fronts as government forces tighten the noose on the Houthis." The gains described are the correspondent's account, rather than an independently established outcome.
Mansour closes with the civilian consequences: after what he describes as nearly two uninterrupted months of fighting, hospitals are under severe strain and lack medicines and medical supplies.
