Nine people dead after Learjet plane crashes in Florida | 9 News Australia
Nobody on board survived. Reporting from Washington for Today, Lauren Tomasi says US transport officials confirmed that all nine people aboard a Learjet 60 were killed when it crashed in Florida's Palm Beach County.
The aircraft was travelling from Austin, Texas, towards the Bahamas, Tomasi reports. Dashcam footage captures its steep plunge and the explosion on impact. Phone footage from the ground then shows smoke, scattered debris and emergency responders near a damaged residential area.
Tomasi describes flight-tracking records showing a rapid loss of altitude before the signal stopped. The report also shows a large crater at the impact site. Possible injuries on the ground remained unconfirmed as she spoke.
The short report reached nearly 470,000 views in seven hours, far beyond the usual audience for the broadcaster's Shorts. Nine also posted a separate brief report on the deaths.
In a subsequent upload, 9 News Australia says authorities still do not know what caused the crash or who was aboard.
