Balmoral Castle engulfed in trafficking investigation | 7NEWS
Police Scotland has received information concerning human trafficking allegations linked to Balmoral Castle, with inquiries still at a very early stage, according to a statement presented in 7NEWS Australia's report.
Europe correspondent Isabelle Mullen reports that the inquiries concern an alleged visit to the Scottish royal retreat in 1999. The police statement is careful about the investigation's progress: "We have received information and active inquiries are ongoing but these are at a very early stage".
British minister Wes Streeting says it is important that police can pursue their inquiries "without fear or favour". The report does not announce charges or findings from those inquiries.
Sunrise royal editor Rob Jobson addresses the implications for the royal household, saying the situation will, he thinks, cause disquiet. Mullen closes her report outside Buckingham Palace.
The short bulletin drew about 111,000 views since yesterday, making it 7NEWS Australia's most-watched upload from the past two days over that period.
