Rosalía finished Lux, her orchestral fourth album, in late-night studio sessions. Asked for her favorite moment from making it, she picks the episodes of Love Island she watched to unwind once the work was done.
That answer gave WSJ. Style its title. The rest of her Job Interview, WSJ. Magazine's series of conversations about careers, goes much further back. Nobody in her family played music, she says, and part of what first pulled her toward it was a childhood crush named Álvaro. "I think I was nine when I said I wanted to play the guitar."
Later, a teacher told her that her tone was too sweet. Rather than taking it as a verdict, she went looking for ways to put rage and intensity into her voice. You can hear where that led on Lux, which she describes as a bet on an orchestral sound with no promise of commercial success. Her answer to doubters is to keep working: "I don't try to convince no one. I don't say anything. I just work."
The song she is proudest of is "Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti," written entirely in Italian and shaped like an aria. Turning the album into an arena show meant serious ballet training, so that she could sing on pointe. "No, I want it all. We're going to have it all," she says of the show. Near the end she recalls a fan's relationship drama confessed in the tour's confessional booth, and reacts to a TikTok of herself and Kylie Jenner watching a fashion show together.
The channel's long interviews usually draw about 3,500 views on their first day. This one passed 43,000 in eleven hours. In the comments, viewers mostly talk about Grammy hopes for Lux, about seeing the tour in person, and about the opening, which several say made them laugh.

I’ll be genuinely shocked if she doesn’t win at least one Grammy for LUX. I truly think that she outdid herself in the best way possible with it. The production, the research she’s done in order to get everything right from visuals, interpretations, learning the languages to actually sitting down and reading/learning about the different saints has truly been a journey and not only for her but also for us who listen to this specific album daily.
She did so well and if there’s any album that Grammy worthy it’s hers. ❤️@benjihadzSee it on YouTubePlease grammy, the Lux IS a masterpiece!! Other level
