wikiHow gives "touch grass" the step-by-step treatment
A meme-filled self-improvement animation has viewers checking that it really came from the official channel.
Why this story? The video is running at 63,947 views a day, 27 times its usual pace (2,365).
How to Stop Being a Chud
wikiHow has turned getting offline into an animated how-to, complete with instructions to go outside, listen to other perspectives and accept a little embarrassment. The delivery is considerably less ordinary than the advice.
The video is titled "How to Stop Being a Chud," and its narrator opens by asking whether the viewer is ready to "lock in." An animated character heads outdoors to "touch grass." Beneath the internet slang, the suggestions are familiar: try new activities, read books, spend less time on social media and practice a growth mindset.
Posted six days ago, the video drew little attention on its first day. It has since picked up roughly 64,000 views in a day, bringing its total to about 88,000. Hundreds of new comments arrived alongside that jump.
Some viewers compare the animation to a deliberately remixed internet video; others emphasize that this really is official wikiHow. Several ask why it appeared in their recommendations. The contrast is particularly wikiHow: a channel whose enduring tutorials include kissing, poker and UNO is applying the same instructional approach to meme vocabulary.
Near the end, the narrator gives the lesson its most compact expression: "You may be cringe, but you are free."
