A view back at Starship from a Starlink satellite's own camera

Flight 14's first trip to orbit filled VideoFromSpace's fifteen uploads, and the launch video is nearing a million views.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Starship finally made orbit on September 28, and VideoFromSpace, the Space.com channel, covered Flight 14 from nearly every angle it could. The plain launch video, "Blastoff! SpaceX Starship launches to orbit for first time, booster splashes down," is closing in on a million views. Its description adds a small drama: the team at first called a no-go for the orbital burn, then reassessed an engine issue and went ahead.

The most striking footage came later in the flight. Flight 14 carried the first of SpaceX's next-generation V3 Starlink satellites, and one video, edited by Steve Spaleta, shows the deployment from both sides. Starship's cameras watch the satellites slide out of the payload bay, while a camera on one of the new satellites looks back at the ship. A vertical short of the same moment is drawing views faster than anything else on the channel right now, ahead of the launch video itself.

The ending was a full Starship ending: plasma building around the ship on re-entry, a splashdown in the Pacific, then an explosion, which the channel gave a video of its own.

Among the science channels nearest it in size, the storm chasers are having the busy stretch. Max Velocity and Reed Timmer are both above their usual daily pace, and so is Cody'sLab. Animagraffs is running a little quieter than normal.
