A $20K Terminator Cobra against a $200,000 Dark Horse SC
Three of TheStraightPipes' four new uploads went to the supercharged 2003 Mustang, the fourth to a manual BMW M3 CS.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Why Pay $200,000 for a Dark Horse SC When You Can Get a $20K Terminator Cobra?
Half a billion lifetime views, and then some, sit behind Yuri and Jakub's channel, and the Toronto pair spent most of this week on one car: the 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, the one Mustang people call the Terminator. The main review asks why anyone would pay $200,000 for the new Dark Horse SC when a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 from two decades ago can be had for a fraction of that, and the description puts the old car at 550 horsepower, which is plenty to make the argument fun. Two shorter Cobra cuts followed it, one billing it as the best Mustang ever, the other as the Hellcat's daddy.
The review opened strongly and is still pulling hard three days in, nearly level on total views with the week's other main video, a manual 2027 BMW M3 CS. That one is the Handschalter, BMW's word for a hand-shifted gearbox, and it went up first, so the Cobra has caught it fast.
The busiest thing on the channel, though, is neither car. "GOOGLE in your car is the BEST," seven weeks old, is drawing a touch more daily views than the Cobra review, and together they have the channel running at about twice its usual pace.
Among the car channels nearest its size, Gas Monkey Garage and WD Detailing are also well above their normal level, while EricTheCarGuy is having a quieter stretch. For TheStraightPipes, a twenty-year-old Ford did the heavy lifting.
