  1. 1:04The Texas Senate contest pits James Talarico against Ken Paxton, with Musk's campaign backing a central issue.
  2. 2:11Paxton supporters cite social media claims about England when speaking with Laughland.
  3. 7:19The report examines the growing population of eligible Latino voters in Texas.
  4. 8:02Johnny Garcia's doorstep conversations cover the economy, border security and immigration enforcement.
  5. 10:33Talarico connects tariffs with food prices at a taco-restaurant press conference.
  6. 11:42Asked about Musk's political spending, Talarico calls that degree of influence a threat to democracy.

A banquet-hall conversation about England is an unexpected stop on The Guardian's Texas campaign trail. Oliver Laughland finds supporters citing social media accounts of life across the Atlantic, before his reporting takes him to a Hondo protest and door-to-door canvassing in San Antonio.

"Can win against Elon Musk's millions in Texas? | Anywhere but Washington" was the week's most-watched upload, passing a million views. Made with Tom Silverstone, the report follows Democratic Senate nominee Talarico and Republican nominee Ken Paxton, moving between campaign rhetoric and voters' concerns about prices, immigration and political influence. It also remains the channel's busiest video right now.

Voters supplied the thread elsewhere, too. In Michigan, the channel asked supporters at an Abdul El-Sayed rally, joined by Barack Obama, what brought them out. Healthcare and affordability featured in their answers. Meanwhile, William Christou's follow-up to a viral Israeli election interview asked a necessary reporting question: how representative was the excerpt of the wider sentiment he encountered? That follow-up drew a much larger audience than the week's separate Israeli voter-interview upload.

Across the channel, weekly views reached roughly 5.2 million and subscribers increased, with daily viewing running above its usual level. ABC News (Australia), a similarly sized channel, also had an above-usual day of viewing, while the Washington Post was quieter than its normal pace.

Beyond the election coverage, Miranda Bryant's earlier report on forest clearing for a Google datacentre in Finland continues to draw viewers, sitting close to the Israeli interview follow-up in daily viewing.
