Carving pumpkins—but make it golf. Happy Halloween from #TeamTaylorMade!
How close is too close to put a camera beside a golf target? An early warning in TaylorMade Golf's Halloween challenge turns out to be well placed: "That was closer to the phone than the pumpkin," someone off camera says.
The setup puts a pumpkin high on a frame down the range, with a smartphone mounted beside it. Scheffler and Horvat try to carve it with golf balls rather than knives. Shots puncture the pumpkin, but an iron shot also knocks the phone clean off its mount. Slow motion gives the crew another chance to laugh at its flight.
This is a branded golf challenge, rather than a tournament highlight or equipment demonstration. It drew about 160,000 views in eleven hours, putting it well ahead of TaylorMade Golf's usual start for a Short.
The phone, rather than the pumpkin, supplies much of the comment-section conversation. Viewers joke that Scheffler was aiming for it all along; another suggests that a phone cracked by Scottie would deserve framing. The pumpkin does get its holes, but the camera position proves the more memorable design choice.
