Gary the snail has survived plenty in Bikini Bottom. An afternoon with Jeffy is another matter.

"SML Movie: Jeffy The Snail!" drew about 1.4 million views since yesterday, its first full day online. It is a parody, not an episode of the cartoon: an actor in a SpongeBob costume knocks on Marvin's door and asks him to watch Gary while he works at the Krusty Krab. He introduces himself with a line that sets the tone: "I used to be a big bubble-blowing baby, but now, I'm a jerk."

Jeffy finds a laser pointer, and the pointer finds Chef Pee Pee's pot of boiling water. When Marvin is served the result and asks, "Is this Gary the snail?", Jeffy has an answer ready: "No, it's Gary Anderson, the dart player." A vet is called in, and his verdict leaves Marvin with one plan: buy an infant-sized Gary costume from a Halloween store and send Jeffy home with SpongeBob in its place.

Jeffy does not make a quiet snail. The sketch then switches to animation, with SpongeBob feeding his new pet snail food while Patrick and Squidward drop by. Viewers keep pointing to the voices in that stretch, and to a face gag around the seven-minute mark.

Chef Pee Pee's scenes have started a conversation of their own. Many commenters ask for an episode about his life now that Junior is no longer in the house, and some simply say they miss the two of them together.

It is the latest in a run of SML borrowing other people's worlds: Scream, Slenderman and the Tung Tung Tung Sahur meme came before it this month. Bikini Bottom is the first of them to get its own cartoon segment.
