Animators in Gartic Phone, with a budget, keeps RubberRoss's pause lively
Ross O'Donovan's two-and-a-half-year-old drawing game with professional artist friends has passed three and a half million views, and no new video went up beside it.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Animators in Gartic Phone, with a Budget.. (No Time Limit)
A usual day on RubberRoss brings in around eight and a half thousand views. Right now the channel is running at roughly half again that, with nothing new posted to explain it.
The oldest of the busy videos does most of the work. "Animators in Gartic Phone, with a Budget.. (No Time Limit)" is close to two and a half years old. It takes the online game of drawing telephone, where each player redraws whatever arrived from the player before, and hands it to people who animate for a living, with the timer switched off. It has passed three and a half million views and is still the channel's busiest video.
Behind it is the newest upload, "Pro Artists play Meccha Chameleon," from about seven weeks ago. The description pitches it as art class meets Prop Hunt: the better you paint yourself into the scenery, the harder the hunters find you. Ross also admits in it that it had been a while since his last RubberRoss video, and points viewers to Gameoverse, his project with Glitch Productions. That may explain the long gaps here.
In third place is the Minecraft video where Jschlatt gave Ross, alone on the SDMP server, the power to ambush players with custom emote animations. It still turns up for a steady trickle of viewers.
Among the let's-play and variety channels nearest his size, Slushy Noobz and 3FS are having the big stretch, each drawing about twice their usual views. TBJZLPlays is right on its normal pace.
