"Rick Shiels Talks Internet Invitational 2026" is running well ahead of the Golf Show's usual opening pace. The comments have already passed four times a normal full first day's total, with viewers asking for more behind-the-scenes stories and a series built around Rick giving The Duke golf lessons.
The appeal here is the gap between arriving confident and finding yourself with a wedge shot you desperately don't want to mishit. Rick says he felt good about his game before filming at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri in August. Even packing had a complication: everyone needed clothing in each possible team colour before the draft. Red was the one he hoped to avoid because he owned so little of it. He landed on Team Blue.
His account follows a comfortable opening match alongside Joey Cold Cuts into a much less comfortable alternate-shot outing with Martin Borgmeier. Rick identifies their playing order as a mistake, then describes poor drives after a lengthy delay.
By the sudden-death playoff, the task has narrowed to a short approach with his lob wedge, with all the pressure that a seemingly manageable shot can carry. Wright's questions leave room for the less visible business around the golf, too: draft decisions, camera assignments and the considerable logistics of bringing a field of creators together.
