A tornado dog and last-second rescues bring Rako 132,000 subscribers in a week
The animated story channel, which says openly that every tale is dramatized, now draws about twice the daily views of the similar-sized story channels around it.
Why this story? The channel went from 169,000 to 301,000 subscribers this week.
Among story channels of its size, Rako is the one pulling the biggest daily audience. Faded Mystery and Reddit Report, both close to Rako in subscribers, each draw around two million views a day. Rako draws nearly twice that.
Over seven days the channel added about 132,000 subscribers to reach 301,000, growth of more than three quarters in a single week. Put another way, more than half of all the views Rako has ever had arrived in those same seven days. Oddly, that is still a touch below the pace it had been setting.
The videos are short animated stories, and the about page says the team writes the script, builds the animation, records the voice and times every subtitle itself. It is also frank about what they are: dramatized for entertainment, some inspired by real events and others invented from scratch. The newest titles show the formula, which is the rescue at the final moment. A brother pulls someone away from something called the Seek, a girl's doll saves her at the last second, and a key turns out to open only one door.
The newest upload drawing the most viewers takes a gentler turn. Posted a day earlier, it follows a dog that crawls back home after a tornado, with no monster and no falling container in sight, and it has already outrun every other video from the last few days.
Elsewhere in the same corner, Reddit Report and Satisfying-Lawn are running well above their usual days, while Faded Mystery is at about half of its own.
