Witches get medical careers in Punkey Doodles' magic-user guide

An animated Short with audio by @ZacSpeaksGiant turns fantasy archetypes into job descriptions, and viewers keep extending the joke.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Audio by @ZacSpeaksGiant

Punkey Doodles gives witches and wizards different departments: medicine for one, physics and academia for the other. The week's most-watched upload, titled "Audio by @ZacSpeaksGiant", pairs the credited narration with illustrations of a mushroom-holding witch and a wizard working from a book.

This is a comedy taxonomy, not a rulebook. The narrator rejects the idea that witch and wizard simply mean different genders, then introduces a warlock taking a selfie with a demonic figure behind her. The professional classifications get rather less respectable from there.

The Short has passed five million views, and its comments have become an unofficial careers office. Viewers propose nature conservation for druids, chemistry for alchemists, manufacturing for artificers and theatre for bards. It's a particularly fitting response to a cartoon that makes fantasy magic sound like choosing a college major.

Three uploads arrived this week. The second ZacSpeaksGiant-credited Short is attracting the most daily viewing across the channel right now, followed by "I absolutely adore you 💖🖤". Another credited to ZacSpeaksGiant, posted before this week's batch, also remains among its busiest uploads.

Punkey Doodles added roughly 40,000 subscribers over the week, although daily channel viewing is currently a little below its usual pace. Among nearby storytelling channels, Doctor NOS also grew, while Top5s and Shane2 recorded unchanged subscriber totals. For Punkey Doodles, the credited voice-and-cartoon pairing remains central: ZacSpeaksGiant also supplies the audio on several of its most-watched Shorts.
