"How do humans survive here?" asks Moxxie, an imp who might reasonably expect to cope with a little heat. Australia's wildlife proves rather harder to handle in Prime Video AU & NZ's Helluva Boss Short, which reached nearly 400,000 views in 20 hours, far beyond the channel's usual start for Shorts.
The clip is an animated comedy scene, with Australia's dangerous-animal reputation stretched to include creatures dropping out of trees. While Moxxie complains that it is hot even for him, Millie arrives in bush gear and declares that the place reminds her of home.
Their different approaches carry the joke. Millie wrestles off a crocodile, a lizard and a snake without abandoning her cheerful mood. Moxxie discovers bugs on his back and runs in circles. Then Blitzo offers a remarkably casual warning about drop bears, just as the koala-like attackers descend.
The comment section is much busier than the channel's usual first day, and viewers are extending the joke rather than debating the danger. Australians describe the chaos as everyday life; others pick up Moxxie's comparison between the local accents and Lord Mammon. One running gag proposes Vegemite as the precaution he forgot to take.
For this official Australia and New Zealand channel, the local punchline is particularly well placed: Helluva Boss has sent actual demons somewhere they find alarming.
