A low-mileage Kia battery opens up OGS & Mechanics' week
George's EV6 investigation follows coolant loss through a full battery-pack rebuild, while a first-generation Tesla Roadster brings a parts shortage.

Why This 6,000-Mile Kia EV6 Is an Absolute Death Trap
An empty coolant tank is the first clue in OGS & Mechanics' biggest new upload. The Kia EV6 had no dashboard warnings, but George's description of the investigation tells a different story underneath: a punctured battery casing, damaged cooling hardware and a faulty module shorting to the casing.
"Why This 6,000-Mile Kia EV6 Is an Absolute Death Trap" has reached about 424,000 views, comfortably the largest audience among six new uploads. Beyond the alarming title, the hour-long video offers a detailed repair process: replacing the casing and two modules, applying thermal paste, matching module voltages and testing the rebuilt pack on the road. Viewers are discussing how the pack is assembled, why the dashboard gave no warning and whether material described as grinding dust could instead be degraded thermal paste.
The rest of the garage had plenty to investigate. A Tesla Model S video examines an imbalance inside one battery module, while George's purchased first-generation Roadster presents a different obstacle: finding replacement parts. A Mercedes EQV inspection asks why some motors fail early while this high-mileage example has kept going. Saturday's four-car battery-failure roundup is already the channel's second-busiest video for daily views.
OGS & Mechanics added roughly 6,000 subscribers over the week, with daily viewing running above its usual level. Its weekly views were close to The Car Edition Ltd's substantial total; Mercedes Lounge and Yorkshire Car Restoration also had active weeks, while Benny Surge was quieter.
The workshop's earlier coolant-seal investigation remains busy too. That Audi, Mercedes and Tesla video follows how a tiny seal can let coolant reach bearings and electrical components, a useful companion to the week's much larger battery teardown.

Really interesting to see how the battery is built. Thanks for explaining the investigation and repair.
@jimb7406See it on YouTubeI thought it was going to be like watching paint dry because I'm completely ignorant about how these things work, but I found it really interesting and I'm now more aware of how it all works and the problems you can encounter with ev cars. Great work and well explained.
@gerrybailey447See it on YouTubeEnjoyed the video! I'm 74 yrs old, and drive a Tesla Model Y and anxious to learn more about the engineering that goes into various EVs. I look forward to viewing more of your videos.

That "grinding dust" actually looks like degraded thermal paste which appears to turn into silvery dust..
