Arkanaut Episode 1 Trailer | Warhammer+

Winged beasts attack an airship weaving through fiery rock canyons. For the crew in Arkanaut, even reaching their destination looks uncertain, and the storm ahead offers little reassurance.

Warhammer's trailer for the animated series' opening episode drew about 55,000 views in ten hours, an unusually fast start for the channel's Shorts. The comments were already far busier than a typical full first day, too, with steam-powered dwarves and the possibilities of more fantasy animation giving viewers plenty to discuss.

This is a trailer for a Warhammer+ show, set in the fantasy world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Its Kharadron Overlords are skyfaring duardin, that setting's dwarves, with armored crews and airborne vessels rather than a mountain fortress as their defining image.

The mission gives those vessels somewhere particularly dangerous to go. An armored warrior describes Arkanauts braving cursed skies in search of the Storm God's lost souls. Aboard ship, a crew member cannot see a route that will get them there intact. Another refuses to turn back after everything the expedition has cost.

Viewers are making their own connections: several invoke the dwarf-mining game Deep Rock Galactic's familiar rallying cries, while another imagines Arkanaut as a four-player cooperative adventure. Requests for Lumineth animation and a Gotrek and Felix series turn this small glimpse of an airship expedition into a wish list for Warhammer's screen worlds.
