Bradley Chubb won't name who swung after Sunday Night Football
NFL on CBS pairs his locker-room account with on-field footage, drawing an unusually large audience and questions about what the cameras show.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 225,399 views a day, 40 times a normal first day on this channel (5,604).
Bradley Chubb got into an altercation with Alaric Jackson after SNF
Chubb leaves the name out. Asked about the postgame altercation, Bradley Chubb says someone swung at him, but declines to identify the person: "Yeah, somebody swung, but hey, that's not on me to tell who."
NFL on CBS's Short combines that locker-room exchange with footage of the on-field confrontation. It reached roughly 140,000 views in ten hours, already far beyond the channel's usual full-day audience for a Short.
The upload is titled "Bradley Chubb got into an altercation with Alaric Jackson after SNF," but Chubb himself does not name Jackson in the interview. He describes an emotional game and says his teammates held him back while he chose not to respond. When the reporter follows up, Chubb points to the cameras having captured what happened.
That combination of an account and accompanying footage gives viewers something specific to discuss. Several comments question whether the images match his description of being held back; others pick up on his explanation that officials tend to catch the person who retaliates. The comment section is already many times busier than a typical first day.
A James Cook Short and Pete Prisco's assessment of NFL contenders also drew unusually strong starts for the channel. Chubb's clip, though, ends with him moving away from the confrontation: "I'm just ready for next week."
